They say that everything is bigger in Texas. The city of Dallas is a huge, sprawling urban giant, made evident in the heights of its buildings, its amazingly engineered infrastructures, and in the hearts of its citizens. If you are traveling to Dallas for the first time or returning to discover more about this metroplex, these are the places that you don't want to miss.
Family Friendly Attractions
If you are visiting Dallas with the kiddos in tow, there is a plethora of options to keep them busy. The Dallas World Aquarium is one of the best aquariums in the country. In addition to all of the amazing aquatic animals and fish, the aquarium also gives talks and has special feedings with the otters, the penguins, the sharks, and jaguars. Some other kid-friendly attractions that should be on your to-see list include the Dallas Zoo, the Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden at the Dallas Arboretum, and Six Flags Over Texas.
Nightlife
If you have an evening free from the kids, the nightlife in Dallas will not leave you disappointed. In fact, you might find yourself with too many options. You can go down to Deep Ellum and have your pick of what kind of nightclub, bar, or live music you are looking for. They have it all! If that's not really your scene, then you might want to try the Lower Greenville area. It's older and a little hipper with tons of smaller bars and funky shops. Or go Uptown and live the high life, visiting posh bars and high-end restaurants. It would take a lifetime to experience all of the nightlife entertainment options.
The West End
The West End entertainment district really does have it all. History, shopping, bars and nightclubs, live music, street artists, great restaurants, and more! Start your day off with some history and end it right with good food and drinks! If you are a history buff or a conspiracy theorist, then Dealy Plaza and the Sixth Floor Museum need to be your first stops. You can walk by the grassy knoll where Lee Harvey Oswald may have fired the weapon that killed President John F. Kennedy on that fateful day in 1963. You can stand on the giant "X" on the street, placed where Kennedy was reportedly shot. The book depository that was Oswald's hideout is now the Sixth Floor Museum and is a popular tourist stop.
This list only touches the surface of all the wonderful attractions that Dallas, Texas has to offer. So the best advice is to go prepared, take notes on the places that top your "must see" list, and don't be surprised to find yourself meandering away from your schedule-- it just might lead you to a hidden gem even the locals don't know exists. And don't forget E-Z Rent-A-Car when making your transportation arrangements! We'd love to help you get around this great city.
