Visiting Vegas? Rent A Car And Travel Off The Strip!
Often when people think of a Vegas vacation they only focus on the hustle and bustle of the strip and main Vegas area. Understandable since this part of Vegas has more than enough to offer to fill several vacations. No matter if you like shows, gambling, shopping or just people watching there is a wide variety of all of these attractions to keep even the most ambitious traveler occupied.
Some of our favorite places to visit in Vegas however are off the beaten track. As a Las Vegas car rental company, we obviously love to travel and love exploring new places within close driving distance of our Las Vegas airport car rental location. Not only does this help us direct travelers, it is a lot of fun for our Vegas based staff.
We’ve put together a list of what we think are the best road trips in the Vegas area. Hopefully next time you travel to Las Vegas you can roam beyond the slot machine and visit some of these great attractions:
Lake Mead: This ‘mega’ lake is the largest reservoir of water in the United States. It is located on the Colorado River, just 24 miles south west from the Las Vegas Strip area. Although this is too far for a cab, your Las Vegas rental car will quickly and easily get you to this great site.
Once you are there you have a wide variety of activities and recreation to choose from. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing and of course sun bathing in the beautiful Vega weather. No matter what you do, the lake is sure to provide a fun day during your Las Vegas trip.
Death Valley: Many people from the area don’t realize how close California actually is to Las Vegas. But really you are just a hop, skip and jump away from it. Death Valley, located in the Mojave Dessert in Eastern California is a great way to add another state to your vacation plans. And with a Las Vegas rental car you can easily make your way there for a day, or several.
Living up to it’s name, Death Valley is the lowest, driest and hottest part of North America. The Death Valley National Park is a great starting point for your dessert adventure and be sure to visit Badwater Basin, the lowest point of North America at 282 feet below sea level.
Valley of Fire: Valley of Fire State Park is not only a national landmark, it is the oldest state park in Nevada. The name comes from it’s red sandstone rock formations that often appear to be on fire when the sun shines on them. The park is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike and provides lots of opportunities for hiking, camping and climbing.
So no matter what your pleasure, Vegas has something to offer. We hope that you visit one of these amazing locations on your next Vegas vacation. And as always feel free to ask our Las Vegas Airport car rental staff about any of these, or other, places when you rent your car.
